SUPPORT WORKERS Positive Behaviour support and Restrictive Practices for Support Workers

This session is for support workers who are working with clients or participants who have a positive behaviour support (PBS) plan in place which may (or may not) include restrictive practices.
The aim of this session is to assist the support worker to learn and understand what PBS and Restrictive Practices are and where they, as support workers fit in to it all.
This training is delivered by a Subject Matter Expert from ACIA (Australian Community Industry Alliance) who has relevant qualifications and extensive experience in the area.
Outline key information about Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), PBS plans and Restrictive Practices to ensure direct care support workers are familiar with the terms, uses, process and legal requirements.
At the completion of this session, you should be able to;
Narrate what a positive behaviour support is and to whom does it apply
Understand the basics of restrictive practice, and its purpose and reporting requirements
Consider who is qualified to develop a PBSP and what the process is
Recall how the PBSP is developed and who is involved
Know who implements the PBSP
Describe specifically what the Support worker role is and what training should they expect to receive to implement the PBSP
