ACIA has been working with the Australian Government representatives to better understand Australia’s growing need for workforce when it comes to supporting the aged and those living with a disability to continue to live independently in the community. In turn, ACIA has sought feedback from its members and provided this in response.
On the 9th March 2021, The Australian Government assigned the task of researching factors effecting supply and demand of care workers to Adam Boyton, National Skills Commissioner.
The study will examine the current and future needs of the care workforce, in relation to aged, disability, veteran and mental health care. The study will have regard to the findings of the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety, and lessons to date from the Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability, and implications for workforce that may stem from them.
